This morning I became a Noogler (for the 2nd time). My role is to lead the Operating System team for Augmented Reality at Google. If you are interested in joining me on this journey, I'd love to talk. Here is a link to one of the many positions I'm working to fill: https://lnkd.in/ea27K7AJ
Interesting, congrats on the new role! Shame that job ad is Seattle and Bay Area only, y'all are missing out on a lot of talent that can't (or doesn't want to) move to the West Coast. 😕
This reminds me the old good times when we tested the Google Glass with travel inspiration use cases: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rUb4C256So I can't wait to discover what Google is cooking now
Congratulations! Does this mean that Google is building an Augmented Reality operating system?
My company Motion Research licenced many the glass patents to Google and Samsung we developed the tech in 1986 through 1993. I have about three yet patented non disclosed improvements for the eyewear and other Head mounted options. You can see the actual history of this display from Insight/ Bolle France, to the Virtual Vision display on my posts on my LinkedIn in profile. I have a lot of important improvements in the hardware. Insight inc invented and sold enterprise AR just look at the 1986 patent from Seattle
I came across your profile and this post following the link by Holly Lee, SPCC (She/Her) . Must say you have had a very unique and brilliant career journey so far, from Data General & DEC to Microsoft, Google, VMWare, Facebook/Meta, and many other small companies in between. And even more impressive, you seem to have done impactful work on all layers of the software stack, from microcode & OS to applications of different types. I think it is very rare for anyone to get that kind of opportunity. Amazing. Congratulations and Best Wishes!! I am sure Google is going to be building even more successful AR & VR products & services pretty soon.
Much needed, in the time when most smartglasses are android run, and still figuring about best way to deal with standard OS designed for phones..
Working with advanced technology will always give a chance to test it's limitations and discover something new. Congratulations 🎊 on your new role again.
At first I don't understand what do you mean by being a Noogler a 2nd time. Went ahead and checked your profile, came back impressed with your career journey.

2yCongratulations on the new role Mark! I reviewed the position you shared and was wondering if there are other related positions dealing with different engineering technologies (i.e Kotlin vs C/C++). I do understand that developing an OS would require low-level technologies. However, what is the plan for engineering applications that work on top of the OS once it has fully matured?
